The records side of quality assurance

Records are the evidence that training happened the way it was described. Rachel Mamaka monitors learner registrations and verifies the documentation behind each course, from the day a learner enrols through to the day a certificate is issued.

Where a document is outstanding, the file is not finished. She follows it up until it is, which is the difference between a complete learner record and one that cannot be defended later.

Finding compliance gaps early

Rachel Mamaka quality checks training and assessment processes and looks for the points where practice has drifted from what the requirements say. A gap picked up early is an administrative job. The same gap picked up at an audit is a finding against the training provider.

Part of that work is confirming that facilitators, assessors and moderators hold the registrations and accreditation their roles call for. A well run course assessed by somebody not registered to assess it is still a problem.

Three years in training and skills development

Rachel Mamaka has spent three years in the training and skills development sector. Her checks follow the requirements of the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the sector. They also follow those of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).

She also supports audit preparation. An audit asks for proof rather than assurances. Records therefore have to be kept in order through the year, not assembled in the week beforehand.

What Rachel Mamaka reviews on this website

People decide whether to enrol on the strength of what this site tells them. Rachel Mamaka checks the course information published on the hub pages against the course records Fundza keeps. That covers entry requirements, how long training takes, how learners are assessed and what they hold at the end.

Fees and durations on those pages come from the same course records she verifies, and the full fee list is on the prices page.

Accreditation and certificates

The bodies Fundza trains to, and the way a certificate can be checked by an employer, are explained on the accreditation page. Anything specific to one course sits on that course page, including its entry requirements and what the assessment involves. Other questions can go through the contact page.

Enrolling, or sending a team?

Individual learners train at the Mokopane centre. Groups can be trained on site anywhere in South Africa. Either way the learner record is kept to the standard described on this page.
