What the course covers
The course builds on level 1 and focuses on the health emergencies that come out of the specific occupational risks of a workplace rather than general injuries.
Learners cover patient assessment in more depth, respiratory and circulatory emergencies, managing an unconscious patient, injuries arising from occupational hazards such as crush, chemical, heat and electrical exposure, use of the equipment the workplace provides, multiple casualty situations, and incident recording and handover. Practical work is done through scenario-based exercises.
How you are assessed and what you receive
Assessment covers a written knowledge test and practical scenarios, where the learner assesses and manages simulated casualties under time pressure. On successful completion the learner is certificated against SAQA unit standard 120496, and the certificate can be downloaded from the Fundza portal as well as issued directly.
What this certificate is worth
Where a risk assessment shows that a workplace carries hazards beyond the ordinary, a level 1 appointment is not enough and auditors will say so. This certificate is what closes that gap, and it is checked during safety audits and at site induction. Learners can download it from the Fundza portal at any time.

Training runs at the Fundza Training Institute centre in Mokopane, and on site at your own premises. Level 2 assumes the competencies in level 1 and extends them. Which one you need comes out of your own risk assessment, not the headcount alone.
Where this course can take you
First aid level 2 sits at the top of the first aid stack at Fundza. It is usually held alongside Fire Fighting Level 1 or Level 2 and SHE Representative training, and many employers book the set together in the Safety Combo.
